Taliban Releases Remaining South Korean Hostages
After six weeks, Taliban militants finally released the remaining South Korean captives being held hostage in Afghanistan. In mid-July, the Taliban captured 23 South Koreans, transporting them by bus to one of their main strongholds in Kandahar. Since then, the Taliban killed two male hostages and allowed one woman to go free. On Wednesday, they released another twelve, but it was not until today that they let the remaining hostages go free. According to news sources, the South Korean government had made a deal with the Taliban to withdraw their troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year in exchange for the captives.
