Middle Earth for McAvoy


British actor James McAvoy is in talks to play Bilbo Baggins in the film adaptation of The Hobbit. Ian McKellan will reprise his role as Gandalf the Grey. Shooting is expected to start this year.


So nice to not see Elijah Wood.

McGregor Signs on for Biopic


Ewan McGregor is joining the cast of Amelia. The biopic will chronicle the life of legendary aviatrix Amelia Earhart. Oscar winner Hilary Swank will star as Earhart and Richard Gere and Virginia Madsen are also set to appear.


McGregor will shoot this film before joining the cast of Ron Howard's Angels and Demons, the prequel to The Da Vinci Code.

Sydney Pollack Passes


Academy Award winning director Sydney Pollack has passed away. He was 73.

Rest in peace. We wish his family the best.

Indy Rules Memorial Day


Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had a great debut taking in $126 million domestically and $143 million internationally. That's a $269 million total. The movie performed quite well but it was expected to break the record held by last year's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

Indy was good. Not as good as the original three. I hate aliens.

Posh Spice Victoria Beckham will be heading back to do more guest appearances on Ugly Betty.

Last night's season finale saw brief appearances by Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell.

Hannah Montana is Coming


Miley Cyrus is back in action. Filming has begun on Hannah Montana: The Movie. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in Spring 2009.

Bow Wow's Entourage


Former teen rapper Bow Wow is quitting his joining music career to become a full-time actor. He will join the cast of HBO's Entourage as a stand-up comic.

Dick Cheney Cast


Richard Dreyfuss has been cast as Vice President Dick Cheney in Oliver Stone's W. The film also stars Josh Brolin as President George W. Bush and Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice.

RENT: Coming to Theaters


No they aren't making a sequel or bringing the movie back to the big screen. Sony Pictures is launching The Hot Ticket, which will bring the final performance of the Broadway musical to the big screen this September. RENT first opened on Broadway in 1996. Cirque Du Soleil Delirium will launch The Hot Ticket this August.

This is great news and many people who will be unable to make the New York performance can be a part of the show's end after 12 years.

While the final count is unclear, Senator Barack Obama has won the Oregon primary.

Clinton Takes Kentucky


Senator Hillary Clinton wins an overwhelming victory over Senator Barack Obama in Kentucky. With 93% of precincts reporting, it's 66 to 30.

She deserves this!

Jessica Alba Weds


Pregnant actress Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have tied the knot.

Congrats...but we don't care too much.

Senator Kennedy Has Brain Tumor


Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Massachusetts), who has been in the hospital since Saturday for a seizure, has a malignant brain tumor. The full story is here.

Narnia Dethrones Iron Man


The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian dethroned box office champ Iron Man by taking in about $56 million this weekend.

Next week, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is supposed to rake in major money.

Iron Man was great. Love to check our Narnia soon. Definitely will see Indiana Jones.

Ashlee and Pete Wed

The New York Times notes that John Edwards has responded to speculation about being Sen. Barack Obama's running mate. Edwards said, "I have no interest in running as vice president."

Good. We don't want you anyways. Who do we want? HILLARY CLINTON. Of course, that probably won't happen.

Ellen and Portia To Wed

With the ban on gay marriage in California lifted, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia De Rossi have revealed plans to marry.
